I know I have been absent lately, but I have been preparing myself for the challenge that I am about to undertake. It is called “101 in 1001”, and essentially, you make a list of things you’d like to accomplish in the next 1001 days. They must be things that are completely in your control, and completely viable. Read more here.
Just for consistency’s sake, I am dividing 1001 days in (roughly) 3 years, 131 weeks, 33 months and each monthly goal, I am calling it 30 days. I’ll need lots of help and accountability with these things, so if you’d like to participate in any of this items with me, please let me know and let’s do them together! Italics are for entries in progress, and if an item has been crossed off it has been completed (with a link to the post with completion details!).

I am so excited you are doing this! I’ll be following along!
I am so excited you have a beautiful, healthy baby!
oh my goodness. This looks excellent and such a great idea. I may have to do this! I’ll be following along.
you definitely should, jen!
This is how I want to help (and I’m so dead serious you won’t even believe it. And I suppose I could just tell you all of this when I see you tomorrow…but I guess I’m just creepy like that):
Go hiking twice a month for a year – I will so do this with you. I love hiking but have a hard time getting motivated.
Hike Squaw Peak all the way to the top – I’ve only done this like, twice. I’m thinking the above will help, no?
Volunteer at least once a month – I have always wanted to volunteer, but again, I’m too scared to do it alone and can’t seem to find anyone else interested enough to do it with me. Plus, if we volunteer a day in 2010 we can get a ticket to Disneyland!
Leave anonymous notes of encouragement – I actually read about this on another blog earlier in the week. It was so inspiring. You would be so good at it!
Take a cooking class – I was THIS CLOSE to taking a Classical Desserts class at PC this semester. Hmph.
Learn to knit – Kirsten knows how to knit. I hear a stitch-and-bitch in order!
Get CPR certified – I NEED to do this. I can’t believe I’ve already gone so long without doing so. Plus we can get super cool certification cards!
Take a belly dancing class – LET’S SHAKE IT LIKE SHAKIRA, GIRL.
Whiten teeth – Jack uses this toothpaste called SuperSmile (http://www.supersmile.com/) and his teeth are so incredibly white it makes me sick. I am so jealous. I told Mike I want a tube for my stocking this Christmas.
Clean and moisturize skin twice a day – I would highly recommend Clinique’s Skin Care three step system. It’s AMAZING. It’s a little pricey, but it is oh my god so worth it. I went off of it for a year or so and tried different products and nothing even compared in quality. I just started back with it again and already my skin tone has improved 100%.
Floss every night – apparently there is this thing called the Waterpik that’s supposed to be amazing. I’ve already begged Mike for it.
Go to the ballet – Um, yes please!
Attend the midnight showing of Harry Potter 7 part 1 – Um, yes please! And also, New Moon?!?!
Watch 25 movies from IMDB’s Top 250 List – Mike probably has a lot of these movies. I know our TV sucks, but we love watching movies and would gladly sit through many of them with you!
Get conch pierced – now that I know what a conch is, bahahaha, we should probably just get our piercings together. You know, for moral support and all. :-)
Get tree tattoo – Same as above. Plus, we know of a great studio in Tempe that’s UH-MAY-ZEENG.
Okay, I’m done being creepy for now. But seriously!
omg sophie i love you i can’t even tell you how many times i laughed out loud while reading that comment! yes, yes, yes, let’s do it!!!!!!
Since I never came over that night to discuss, I am replying here!!!
I would LOVE to go hiking with you. I went this weekend with a friend and it was so beautiful! And we should definitely do Squaw Peak together…I haven’t done it in years and I think I would die if I tried it now. So let’s work up to it :) I’ll let you know next time I’m going!
I’m doing some volunteer work at this organization call Hope and a Future (azhope.com) next month. If you’d like, you can do it with me! Or we can just do the next one together, and then celebrate at Disneyland!! What kind of volunteering would you like to do? It’s always more fun to volunteer together. I am a little scared but excited.
What kind of cooking class should we take?! Desserts would be amazing..mmmm….
Stitch and bitch? YES PLEASE!
When do you want to do CPR? And belly dancing? We need to prioritize…
Ahh yes Clinqiue. I used to use the process. I’m just so unbelievably lazy it’s disgusting. Which is why I need the Waterpik. And Jack does have beautiful teeth. Which is why I need SuperSmile.
Which ballet? I want to see Swan Lake or Giselle but I don’t know if any studios are doing Giselle right now. I think my mom wants to see the Nutcracker this season with all of my aunts and girl cousins and grandmas. Want to come with?!
new moon = awesome. harry potter = more awesome. yes please!
Okay let me know if Mike has any of those movies and if you want to watch them with me!!!
Hahaha conch. Let’s do it!
I need to save up some money for that first, and have an artist sketch it out, but then we are good! I need someone who does really good fine line work…does your artist do that??
no creepy here. just good friends :)
i cannot believe you are learning to knit without me. i am pouting, if only you could see my face haha. but what sweater are you hoping to make?
oh! i forgot to tell you!! i met a death eater!!!!! literally. he plays a death eater in harry potter seven, parts one and two! i couldn’t believe it, he came over one day, bruises all over his chest and face covered in fake blood [which looked quite real, in my defence], looking all sorts of dodgy. i asked, what happened to you? he said, harry potter kicked my ass. i thought he was just taking a piss but he was serious! i was just sat there, in shock for a bit. then i annoyed him to no end with incessant questions. this is relevant because your list mentioned harry potter :D
anyways, i am excited to see how your list is going! even more, im excited to see who youve become at the end of this venture. your goals are quite profound.
and yes. visit me. asap.
is your tree tattoo the baobab tree, or something different that i dont know about? i’m getting my le petit prince tattoo while in paris. how fitting is that!
we must do better at keeping in touch.
but then i will be able to knit with you when you get back! and you can join our little knitting group!!!! :)
also, love your birtish slang. love death eathers. and death eaters/harry potter are ALWAYS relevant. you don’t need to justify it :)
thanks bff! i am excited for your journey as well.
done and done. see you soooon! are you coming home for the holidays at all? i can’t remember but i’m thinking you aren’t :(
i’m not sure yet, it’ll probably be some sort of interpretation of the baobab tree, with the thick trunk and extensive roots, but i don’t want any leaves on it. probably end up doing a combination of that tree and an oak tree, because i want some of the roots to twist into these lyrics from one of my favorite songs: this love branches out like an oak tree. it’s going to be a huge piece on my right side. hopefully, anyway.
GET IT IN PARIS. YOU HAVE TO.
I’m emailing you as we speak :) i read your blog constantly, by the way. i will comment more…
haha english slang? i didn’t even realize i was using it! there have been a lot of visitors from america the past couple of days, and they all think i speak with a slight english accent. i don’t even notice it! im going to come back so pretentious. i can already tell.
nope, i am not coming home until the middle of august eep. ill spend barely more than a weekend at home, then its back up to flagstaff for my senior year.
nice! mine will take up my entire left side oddly enough. the words will be les yeux sont aveugles. il faut chercher avec le coeur. [the eyes are blind. you must search with the heart.]
i will try to respond to your emails, i just never check it! i am procrastinating an art history paper right now. which i really shouldn’t be, since i only have an hour or two to work on it, because i am going to see wicked tonight. for free!!!
